Gnomes used to live deep in the forest, under ferns and between mossy roots.

But wildfires and deforestation took many of their old forest homes. The forest needed a long rest, so lots of gnomes packed their hats and moved to town.

Today you'll find them in gardens, on balconies, in window boxes, in parks and community gardens. Gnomes are very good at making a new place feel like home, and every adoption gives one a new place to belong.

🎒 Gnomes like to travel

A gnome doesn't have to stay in one place forever. Gnomes get around by:

• Trading and gifting. An owner can pass their gnome on to a friend with a one-time gift code.
• Hiding and finding. Like geocaching: an owner hides a gnome somewhere for a stranger to discover, with a find code on a tag.
• Urban editions. One-of-a-kind special gnomes that Nicole leaves in public places, as gifts for whoever finds them.

🏷️ Names are living things

A gnome's name can grow with it: through life stages, big adventures and proud achievements.

But a gnome gets just one new name in its whole life, across all its owners. A new name always comes with its story: how the gnome earned it. Its first name is never forgotten, and its page shows “formerly …”.

📖 Every gnome's story keeps growing

Each gnome is born with its own original story. That first chapter is permanent and can never be changed.

Each owner can add new chapters about what the gnome has been up to. Chapters are added after the story, one after another, like pages in a scrapbook.

📍 Where in the world?

Gnomes keep their whereabouts a little mysterious. Places on a gnome's page are always rough, like a town or “near the library”. Never a street address, never GPS.
